#BORNPINKINKL
4/3/2023.
A date that will definitely be remembered for the rest of my life. Why tho? I ATTENDED BLACKPINK'S BORNPINK WORLD TOUR CONCERT in KUALA LUMPUR! It was definitely one of the happiest day in my life cs yeah, I've been dreaming of that day since 2019, since their very first concert here in Malaysia. Let's go back to 4 years ago. It's kinda crazy to ponder the fact that I only started becoming a fan right after their first concert in KL. The moment I found out that they were having dinner at Taipan (which is like 20 mins away from home) right after their concert, that was also the moment where I wanted to get to know more about this group. And yeah, after listening to their songs, man, I just instantly fell in love with the genre, vibes & visual that these girls have brought & are still bringing to the table. I swear I've never been a fanatic of K-pop but then these girls, ooff, they've opened my eyes to genuinely appreciate music man. On that day, I made a promise to myself that if one day, they were to ever come back to Malaysia for their world tour, I'll be there, no matter what.
And 4 years later, I was there, witnessing my dreams coming to reality....
Okay let's talk about the whole concert experience yeah? Took the train from home all the way to Bukit Jalil. I swear it was like a fashion show themed Black & Pink in the train. Everyone was like supermodels & they were all really friendly. I even made a new friend from The Philippines. He really came all the way from Manila to watch the girls. Man I gotta pay a lotta respect to the guy. Of course our conversation was only about Blackpink throughout the whole journey. After arriving at the station, OMFG, the whole scenery outside was like there's a football match man. There were thousands of people wearing black & pink all over the place. Some of them were already lining up, dancing, taking photos & videos, eating & the list goes on man. Being able to experience the whole thing pre-concert is just insane. I even got freebies! So I started lining up at 4.30 and guess what? The girls were also having their soundcheck session at that moment. I SWEAR THE MOMENT I HEARD THEIR VOICES LIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME, I WENT NUTS. I couldn't believe what was happening at that time, like jesus christ, FINALLY I GET TO LISTEN TO THEM LIVE. Ngl, I almost teared up. Friendly reminder this was just BEFORE entering the stadium yeah. HAHAHAHAH.
And yes, finally after almost an hour and a half of queuing, I eventually got in the stadium. It was right in front of my eyes. The stage was MASSIVE AF. I had a pleasant view from my section tbh. So yeah, while waiting for the concert to finally start, I made more new friends! A group of friends sat right beside me & they came all the way from Singapore. I had so much fun with them that night. We vibed together with all the people in the stadium to the songs and music videos pre-concert. I even told the Singaporeans "when the girls finally show up later, the whole stadium is gonna explode." And yes it did. Oh yeah, they even played our National Anthem, Negaraku before the concert began. Finally, the moment they opened the big screen to make way for the girls' entrance, that was also the moment I could not believe what was happening at that time. I was speechless. Like FINALLY, the dream of wanting to watch them perform live since 4 years ago has finally came true. It was surreal. Like all this time of watching them on Youtube & listening to their songs, FINALLY, Jisoo, Jennie, Rose & Lisa, THEY WERE ALL RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES. It was truly insane and unforgettable. They were all beautiful & my god, witnessing them perform their songs live is just another level of euphoria. I had one of the best 2 hours of my life. I was like in my own utopia. It's just crazy. AND YES, I FINALLY GET TO SEE & LISTEN TO MY BIAS, ROSE, LIVE!!! It's a life achievement cs everyone knows how a BIG ROSE STAN I am. Besides that, I swear to God the Pink Ocean in the stadium was MAGICAL & WONDERFUL. Now just imagine yourself sitting in a stadium with an amount attendees of almost 63000, holding & vibing with their lightstick simultaneously. It was an eye-catching site. I'd do anything to witness that for the first time again. Everything was unbelievable.
"Even happiness is temporary". After 2 hours of singing, dancing & shouting, they finally ended their concert & left. As all the people were busy leaving the stadium, I sat down & was stunned. Just like that, It was done. I was in denial. I wanted more & wanted them to stay. Knowing the fact that this might be my first & last time seeing them live was just heartbreaking. It was like a wake-up call like shit you HAVE TO wake up from a good dream that you just had. Again I emphasize, I couldn't believe what had happened throughout the whole night. It was unreal. Eventually, I took the train, drove back home, had shower & finally hit the bed with a heavy heart while listening to their songs, You Never Know and Stay. What a night tho.
People will ask questions like "Why Blackpink tho?" or maybe "Why must it be a girl-group from Korea?". People, you don't know how this "Girl group from Korea" has helped me throughout my toughest phase of life especially back in 2020, during the lockdown. Their music was the reason I was able to survive those demanding times and that is why they will forever have a special spot in my heart. Call me an obsess or a fucking cringe for writing a blog over a fucking K-pop group, I don't fucking care about your opinions. I just feel the need to write this blog, to let go of my Post Concert Depression. These past years have been wonderful and I thank them for being one of the main reasons why. It's true what they say, music does have a big influence in your life. I'm really looking forward for their future projects & who knows in the future, if they decide to come back and perform once again, I'll be there, no matter what.
With regards, A.
